One thing military buffs and aviation fans both enjoy is aircraft boneyards, and did you know the world’s largest is located in the southwestern United States? Opened following the Second World War, the 309th Maintenance and Regeneration Group (309th AMARG) is housed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, and has on its property over 4,000 aircraft from a variety of eras.

Home to a 630-megawatt hydropower plant, it powers homes across the area. A drought in February 2022, however, uncovered something many forgot was beneath the water: the abandoned village of Aceredo.

The Legend Behind Mexico's Macabre Island of the Dolls

Just a few miles south of Mexico City, between the canals of Xochimilco on Teshuilo Lake, sits the Isla de las Muñecas – the “Island of the Dolls.” The macabre tourist attraction dates back to the mid-20th century and is the creation of the late Don Julian Santana Barrera, who allegedly began hanging dolls around the island to appease the spirit of a deceased girl.
